Trenton Community Development Commission(TCDC) was founded in 1992
to promote the Trenton community.
In 1994 the McCook Clinic approached TCDC with the proposal that if TCDC
would furnish a building they would start a medical clinic in Trenton.
The present community building was started in 1994 and completed in
February 1995. The building housed a Rural Health Clinic,
Trenton Public Library and the Community Room.
In 2004 McCook Community Hospital took over the clinic and expanded into
the library. The library moved to the olf VFW building on Trenton's Main street.
The Community Building cost about $225,000.00. It was funded with about $125,000.00
in donations and grants and a $100,000.00 loan from Farmers State Bank
guaranteed by FmHA. Loan payments were made by donations and fund raisers and
was complete with a bequest from the Virgl Hay estate.
In 1999 the TCDC built the Massacre Canyon Visitors Center with the help of a
grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. It has been
staffed by volunteers each summer since.
